This cocktail is perfect for those Christmas parties or just when you have guests round for dinner.

Ingredients

Makes 1 Cocktail
30 ml Whiskey
25 g Lavender Hilltop Honey
15 ml Cointreau
15 ml Fresh Lemon Juice
Ice
A Dash of Orange Bitters
Caster Sugar to Serve

Directions

Put your sugar in an even layer on a small plate. Use enough so that when you dip the glass in the sugar, enough will collect on the rim to be visually appealing.
Using a clean cloth, put a dab of orange bitters on the edge of your cocktail glass, making sure the honey is in an even, consistent layer but without clumps.
Turn the glass upside down in the sugar to coat the honey and gently turn right side up. Set aside while you make the cocktail.
In a shaker, add the whiskey, honey, Cointreau, lemon juice and bitters.
Fill the shaker to the top with ice and shake vigorously for about 30 seconds.
Pour through the strainer of the shaker into your cocktail glass and serve immediately.

Better than expected

So, have been purchasing Acacia Honey of various varieties for many years, some high end, high price ‘artisan’ honey down to supermarket own brand cheap choices. You generally get what you pay for, and I use honey as a substitute for sugar in hot beverages, so taste is massively important. I tried hilltop honey as an alternative to a product I found it difficult to source, and what a pleasant surprise, not too sweet, always runny, and a great price too. I am swayed.

Love this honey

My husband and I use this honey daily, to sweeten coffee in yogurt, porridge etc it's really good value and delicious. I've even got my children using it now.

Update on 'missing'

Hilltop have rectified the issue, turns out Royal Mail had either lost or damaged my original delivery and only given me one of the five tubs that I ordered, Hilltop have sent replacements and all is ok.

Lovely honey

This is lovely tasting honey and the honeycomb adds a bit of texture, we love it.
