Honey halloumi is one of those dishes that feels fancy but couldn’t be simpler to make. It’s golden and crisp on the outside, soft and chewy in the middle, with a warm drizzle of Hilltop Blossom Honey to tie it all together.
Whether you’re serving it as a starter, a brunch addition, or a quick snack, it’s the kind of sweet-meets-savoury combo that never fails to impress.
1 block halloumi (approx. 225g)
1 tbsp olive oil
1–2 tbsp Hilltop Blossom Honey
Optional: fresh thyme, chilli flakes, or lemon juice for finishing
Tip: Try using Hot Honey to bring out different flavour notes.
Step 1: Slice the Halloumi |
Cut the halloumi into thick slices, around 1.5 cm wide. Don’t go too thin — they’ll hold better in the pan this way.
Step 2: Fry Until Golden
Heat olive oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Add the halloumi and cook for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until golden and crisp on the outside.
Step 3: Drizzle with Honey
Turn off the heat. While the cheese is still warm in the pan, drizzle generously with Hilltop Honey. Let it bubble slightly and coat each slice.
Step 4: Add the Finishing Touches
Top with a sprinkle of chilli flakes, a few thyme leaves, or a squeeze of lemon, whatever you fancy.
There are so many ways to enjoy this dish. Try it:
As a starter – serve with toothpicks and lemon wedges
On toast – layer it with smashed avocado or roasted tomatoes
In salads – pair with rocket, walnuts, and fresh fruit
With roasted veg – serve as a side to couscous or grilled roots
Yes, although honey halloumi is best fresh from the pan:
Fridge: Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days
Reheat: Pan-fry for 1–2 minutes each side to crisp back up. Avoid microwaving — it turns rubbery.
Quick and easy – done in under 10 minutes
Naturally sweet – with Hilltop Honey as the hero
Minimal ingredients – big flavour, no fuss
Perfect for sharing – or not.
