Honey-glazed Char Siu Pork

Ingredients

  • 2 pork chops
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine
  • 1 tsp five‐spice powder
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, grated
  • ½ tsp white pepper
  • Rice
  • Pak choi
  • Optional:
  • Spring onion
  • Chilli

Directions

  1. In a bowl, mix all the marinade ingredients together. Before adding the pork, spoon out 1 tablespoon of the marinade and set it aside for glazing later.
  2. Add the pork to the bowl and coat thoroughly in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.
  3. When ready to cook, heat the air fryer to 180°C and cook for 12 minutes or for the oven heat to 200°C degrees (conventional oven) and roast for 25 minutes.
  4. Mix the reserved tablespoon of marinade with 2 tablespoons of honey. Half way through cooking brush the pork generously on all sides, then return to the airfryer or oven and roast until glossy, deeply caramelised and charred at the edges.
  5. Remove from the oven and allow the pork to rest for 5 minutes. Slice and brush with the tray juices before serving.
  6. Serve with Basmati Rice and lightly steamed Pak choi.
  7. Optional garnishes- Spring onion and chilli.
