Hilltop Community Fund

Every year in April/May, we launch our Hilltop Community Fund for local initiatives and projects who aim to improve the social and environmental landscape of Newtown and the surrounding area. Initiatives and projects can apply for up to £10,000 in funding to cover the costs of resources that are required for the project.

2024 awardees

Montgomeryshire Family Crisis Centre

Montgomeryshire Family Crisis Centre aims to help anyone experiencing or affected by domestic abuse. They support women, men and children.
The funding they receive from Hilltop will be put towards buying plenty of equipment such as alarms and further help practically to prevent any domestic abuse to their clients and who wish to remain safely in their own homes.

Meals On Wheels

Meals On Wheels is a food company run by volunteers and as all their volunteers are older people over 65 (they do approximately 70 meals a week).
The funding they receive from Hilltop will be put towards equipment and other essentials to help the Meals On Wheels volunteers produce food for the local community. It will benefit the older and vulnerable people who live in Welshpool and surrounding areas.

Ysgol Cedewain

Ysgol Cedewain is a special needs school with pupils ranging from 4-19 years of age.
The funding they receive from Hilltop will be put towards feeding the children in their breakfast club as the staff were funding this themselves from their own money. By receiving the funding from Hilltop, their breakfast club will become feasible to run for 5 days and help students, in the morning, take medication with food to help with their day.

Caersws Bike Park

Caersws is one of the most iconic venues of British downhill. First raced in 2004 as part of the Midlands Super Series, Caersws has been a favourite of the UK race scene ever since.
The funding they receive from Hilltop will be put towards creating a mountain bike skills area (over the next 12 months). This will be an asset for the local community as it will provide an area that can be used to develop skills of new or younger riders in a safe environment. The skills area will allow the park to offer bike skills days or holiday courses for local young people in the area. Caersws is in a growth period and investment in the park has a number of positive knock-on effects for the local community.

Ysgol Caersws CP School

Caersws CP School is a small but successful community school with a real sense of family. They want to promote the health & wellbeing of all pupils by ensuring they feel safe & secure in a supportive school environment and through being a part of a thriving local community.
The funding they receive from Hilltop will be put towards supporting the pupils' growing minds by building their knowledge & understanding through practical topics which will capture their interest & stimulate their imagination.

Newtown White Stars Junior Football Club

Newtown White Stars J F C are a group of about 40 volunteers whom organise fun and competitive football training and matches for nearly 250 children from the ages of between 4-16, in the local area. This includes many festivals and social events.
The funding from Hilltop will be put towards helping the 250 children in the team with uniform/kit and events, plus their family & friends who support them, not only that, all of the visiting clubs that come to festivals and matches.
