Hot Honey & Maple Syrup Onion Puff Pastry

Hot Honey & Maple Syrup Onion Puff Pastry

Ingredients

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced into rings
  • Hilltop Hot Honey
  • Hilltop Maple Blended Flavoured Syrup
  • Hilltop Scottish Heather Honey
  • Balsamic vinegar
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed if frozen
  • Olive oil (for brushing)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley and feta for garnish (optional)

Directions

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit).
    2. Place the thinly sliced onions on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    3. Drizzle the onions generously with balsamic vinegar, Hilltop Hot Honey, and maple syrup. Ensure they are evenly coated.
    4. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper.

    1. Lay out the puff pastry sheet on a clean surface.
    2. Cut the pastry into equal-sized squares, one for each onion slice.

    1. Carefully lift the pastry square and gently place it over the marinated onion slice, covering it.
    2. Press it down slightly so it adheres.

    1. Brush the top of each pastry with a little olive oil for a golden finish.
    2. Place the assembled pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    3. Bake in the preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit) for about 20 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden and crispy.

    2. Garnish with fresh parsley and feta if desired and serve warm.
